Getting started

How to use Brenvera's Word Unscrambler

  1. Enter your letters. Type between two and fifteen letters, including any repeated letters. No commas or spaces are needed.
  2. Select Find Words. The results are grouped by word length, starting with the longest available matches.
  3. Explore a word. Tap a result to request a definition in a popup. Close the popup to return to your results.

For example, enter LETTER to explore words that can be made with two Ts and two Es. The tool will never use a letter more frequently than you entered it.

Try the word unscrambler.

What can it do?

Looking at a jumble of letters? The tool uses each letter no more times than it appears, lists words longest-first, and lets you explore word meanings through an optional dictionary lookup.

How does it handle privacy?

Letter matching runs in your browser. Selecting a definition contacts a third-party dictionary service for that particular word. No registration is required to use the unscrambler.

Using the word list responsibly

The included English spelling list contains common and unusual entries, including inflected forms. It is not an official Scrabble or Words With Friends dictionary, so a result may not be accepted in a particular game. Missing definitions do not necessarily mean a word is invalid.

Read dictionary source and licence information.

More tools

We plan to add other focused utilities over time. Only the Word Unscrambler is available today; future tools will be listed when they are actually ready.

Understand your results

Why do some results look unfamiliar?

Our word finder uses an English spelling list that includes inflected and less common forms. Its aim is to show possible words, not to certify that a word is allowed in any particular board or mobile game. Scrabble and other games maintain their own accepted-word lists, which may differ.

The list and the definition provider are separate resources. If a result has no available definition, that is not proof that the spelling is wrong. Conversely, a definition alone does not establish that the word qualifies for a specific game.

See dictionary credits for details of the source and licence.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter duplicate letters?

Yes. Enter each tile as many times as you have it. For example, BOOK includes two Os.

Will I need to register or pay?

No. You can use the Word Unscrambler without creating an account or buying a subscription.

Does it work on an iPad or phone?

Yes. The form and results are designed to work in modern mobile and desktop browsers.

Why can a definition be missing?

Definitions are requested from an external service when you tap a result; that service may not cover every spelling or may be temporarily unavailable.

Are my letters uploaded to a server?

The letter-matching operation runs in your browser. Tapping a result sends the selected word to a third-party dictionary service. For more information, review our Privacy Policy.
